Cyclocross and gravel carbon rims demand versatility and durability. LightCarbon gravel bike carbon rims are designed with 26mm inner width, which is suitable for gravel tires with size 700*37C-50C. The 40/45/50mm rim height options strikes a compelling balance for mixed-terrain adventures.
The U-shaped rim profile enhances tire compatibility and stability. With a 26mm inner width, this design ensures optimal support for high-volume gravel tires (37C-50C), reducing the risk of tire rollover during aggressive cornering or technical descents. The wider bed allows tires to maintain a natural rounded profile, improving grip and shock absorption on loose surfaces like gravel, dirt, or mud.
Rim Height Options: 40mm vs. 45mm vs. 50mm
Choosing the right rim height depends on riding style and terrain:
40mm: Ideal for technical, unpredictable terrain. The lower profile prioritizes agility, weight savings, and crosswind stability. Perfect for riders tackling steep climbs or twisty singletrack.
45mm: A versatile middle ground. Balances aerodynamic gains compared to 40mm rim , and with moderate weight. It suits riders mixing paved gravel terrain.
50mm: Maximizes aerodynamic efficiency for fast-paced gravel races or rolling terrain. Slightly heavier on weight but offers noticeable speed retention on smoother surfaces.

ERD is short for effective rim diameter, it is the maximum distance that spokes bridge going from one end of the rim to another.
How do we calculate the ERD of our rims? Below are calculation equation and sketch for your reference:
ERD=Rim outer diameter-(rim depth)*2+(Rim nipple bed thickness)*2
For example：
ERD of LCG26-40C rim=633mm-40mm*2+3.5mm*2=560mm
Most people prefer ERD including the length of the nipple cap. However, customers may use different nipples and components for building. Please add the height of the nipple cap(2.5mm~3mm generally) for your spoke calculation. If the height of the nipple cap is 3mm, then ERD of your PXG26-40C rim is 560mm+3mm*2=567mm
A: Rim nipple bed thickness (=3.5mm)
B: Length of nipple cap (2.5mm~3mm generally)
